Ian is the CEO of Adaviv. He co-founded Adaviv while holding a Postdoctoral Associate position at MIT and his background and interests bridge plant science, agriculture, image processing and data science.
As an entrepreneur and technologist at heart, Ian is guiding Adaviv's mission to help every indoor farm become highly profitable and sustainable through enhanced Plant-Intelligence and Lean Cultivation tools.
Originally from the prairie grain belt provinces of Canada, Ian is passionate about using his skills to make a meaningful impact on sustainability and climate.

Moe Vazifeh has been instrumental in driving Adaviv’s technical development in both hardware and software since its inception. With a Ph.D. in theoretical quantum physics and extensive experience in advanced scientific fields such as complex modeling and optimization, Moe brings a unique and diverse skill set to the team.
Moe’s impressive experience leading multi-organization projects at MIT, coupled with his service as a referee for prestigious journals such as Science Robotics, reflects his reputation as an expert in the field. His focus on modeling human mobility and optimizing transportation through large-scale data analysis has earned him numerous media coverages in publications such as Nature, Wired, Wall Street Journal and the MIT Technology Review.

Julian leads product and business development for Adaviv as its COO. He holds a MBA from MIT Sloan, has two bachelor’s degrees (i.e. B.A. Economics and BSc. Industrial Engineering) and a Masters in Economics. During his time at MIT, Julian was president of the MIT agriculture club and also brings vast operational experience from his 3 years at McKinsey. He has worked on several initiatives to stimulate economic and social development throughout South America. In one of those efforts, Julian helped to establish a sustainability consultancy company called RedES CAR that has trained more than 400 SMEs.
Julian also holds a Sustainability Certificate for his MBA and was a leader in the Impact Investing, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and SEID (Sloan Entrepreneurs in International Development Club) clubs. Julian was born and raised in Colombia. He developed a passion for agriculture from his grandparents, who were farmers in “Valle del Cauca”.
Our story
Idea incepted by cofounders while working at MIT as researchers.
2018
Adaviv was cofounded and became part of two highly selective Accelerators at MIT - DesignX and DeltaV.
Started farm-centric design thinking and data collection at two pilot sites in Florida and Massachusetts
2019
Raised a Pre-seed round and started the engineering of the first version of the software and scoutbot technology.
Closed Seed Round. Commercialized the Lean Cultivation Platform with first few customers.
2021
Expanded to large-scale commercial greenhouse farms and across the US. Commercial deployments of its ground-based plug and play scoutbot Mantis.
2022
Development of the patented fully autonomous Scoutbot system - Ladybug.
2023
Joined MIT STEX25 through an invitation by MIT’s Industrial Liaison Program.
Launched Field & Farm - advanced farm labor planning, scheduling and crop health optimization tools powered by Adaviv AI.
